Matt Edwards is a songwriter/vocalist/guitarist and session musician based in the south of England. He has released 4 studio albums to date and is releasing a new 6 song EP in 2025. His influences come from blues, soul, funk, rock and jazz, giving his song writing a unique style but always based around the blues.
Matt has been touring constantly in the UK and Europe since 2011 with his own live band and solo shows, as well as many gigs playing guitar for other bands and artists such as Alice Armstrong, Stuart Maxwell and many more.
In 2018 Matt released his exciting studio album ‘BACKWARD ROOTS’. An eclectic collection of songs, showcasing why Edwards is something different in the Blues Rock scene. Featuring Richard Newman (Paul Rodgers, Steve Marriot) on drums and Stuart Dixon (Geno Washington, Greg Coulson) on bass.
Some of clubs and festivals Matt has played are including – 100 Club, The Bear Club, Half Moon Putney, The Stables, Robin 2, Bulls Head Barnes, Bullingdon Club, Great British Rock and Blues Festival Skegness, Colne Blues Festival, Fairport Fringe Festival, plus many more…
Edwards plays passionate and powerful solo acoustic sets or you can see him tearing it up with his excellent trio ‘Matt Edwards Band’ all over the UK.

Matt’s 2012 debut album ‘Follow The Plan’ featured Matt writing and playing all the instruments on the album. After the release of his debut album Matt put together a live band ‘Matt Edwards Band’ which has grown a reputation for high quality performances. 2015 saw the second studio release in the form of 12 track album ‘FOUR BERRY JAM’ and continued touring followed across the UK.
