The Bad Day
The Bad Day
Forged from the fires of the London blues scene in 2017, The Bad Day blend energetic harmonica with exciting contemporary blues rock melodies.
The band’s first album came out in 2021 on two labels; Lunaria in the U.K. (Jimmy Regal, Misty Blues, Five points gang) and P-Vine in Japan (B.B King, Kingfish, Sean Lennon).
The album was a critical success picking up awards and getting international airplay on BBC, Planet Rock and many other international radio stations in Japan and Brazil.
The band's second album proved to be a game changer for the genre, taking inspiration from concept albums of the past, with songs that flow into each other to tell a story. Dropping 'Blues Band' to the much shorter "The Bad Day" the self titled second album was voted 3rd best blues of 2022 by Classic rock Magazine (just losing out to Markus King and Walter Trout). The Lead single from the album "Devil’s Lullaby" also came 5th in the Best Rock song of 2022 (Classic Rock Magazine).
The Bad Day have played blues venues, festivals and cross genre stages across the UK and Europe, such as The 100 Club, B.B. Kings, The Isle of Wight Festival, Ronnie Scotts, York Blues Festival (Headline), Dereham Blues festival, Blackdeer Festival, Carlisle Blues Rock Festival, HRH Blues Fest, Brezoi Open Air Blues Fest, and many, many others.
The Bad Day have supported artists such as multiple Grammy award winner Delbert McClinton at Sony Hall, Times Square, NYC, USA, Kirk Fletcher, Ben Poole and more recently played with artists such as Laurence Jones in the U.K.
Picking up a nomination for Best Blues at the 2022 UK Blues Awards, the band refuse to be pigeon holed as simply an amazing blues act but also a band of brothers pushing the envelope of what blues music can achieve when combined with other genres.
You may have seen the band featured in magazines; Blues Matters Magazine, Blues in Britain (front cover), Bassplayer (UK and US), Classic Rock Magazine and many more.
Whispering Bob Harris described The Bad Day as "Nice!" in that old grey whistle test way that only he can, whilst Cerys Matthews on her blues show said "Brilliant Live!"
The band comprise of;
Bass player and vocalist Adan Rigg - Adam drives the band forward with his charismatic and ferocious showmanship.
